Fifty Dead Men Walking is being marketted at this week’s Cannes Film Festival in France. The Guardian has published an article regarding the film, while there isn’t anything directly Jim related here are some excerpts regarding production status and what not:

“The film company have told me this is only loosely based on my life but it’s my life all the same. I was shot here in England by the IRA for what I did to the Belfast Brigade. My mother’s house was attacked, my brother left for dead after a beating long after I was gone from Belfast and in hiding. They should have represented my story more accurately and fairly.” - Real life Martin McGartland

A spokesman for Future Films Limited, the company that co-financed Fifty Dead Men Walking, stressed that the movie was still in post-production and said McGartland had not seen it, so was not placed to make a final judgement.

Big thanks to Steve for the heads up! I have also added one on set image of Jim filming in beautiful Ireland.

And be sure check out a very old and rare picture of Jim on the set of 2002’s TV movie The Quest. Thanks goes out to Johnny for both pictures!

Jim Sturgess, who is hot after the box office success of Las Vegas card-caper movie 21 and the cult movie Across The Universe will, star in the film Heartless, which Renaissance man Philip Ridley will direct on locations in East London and the Isle of Man, from June 1.

The French-born actress Clémence Poésy will play an Eastern European who meets Sturgess’s character.

It also stars Noel Clarke, who made Kidulthood and the forthcoming Adulthood movie.

Richard Raymond, who is producing the film with Pippa Cross, said it will be a “gleaming and seductive look at the East End”, which will turn the culture of hoodies on its head.

Sturgess will play a young man who makes a deal with the devil to become handsome, but then discovers there’s a price for his good looks: he has to become a killer.

I have updated the gallery with captures of Jim playing George Boleyn in the film The Other Boleyn Girl. Thanks to Laura of Adoring Natalie Portman for these! I have also added ten production stills. Lastly, if you have not seen the film yourself proceed with caution as there are many spoilery caps.
