What a nice surprise! Jim did in fact attend the Cannes Film Festival today, but for an early photocall for Heartless. I had no knowledge their would be any promotion for the film so this is a complete joy. Maybe he will attend something for Fifty Dead Men Walking afterall. We’ll have to wait and see. At the photocall he posed with French co-star Clémence Poésy. I have added 44 MQ photos so far and I’m on the lookout for more and HQ pics. Public Events: 2008 Cannes Film Festival - “Heartless” Photocall

Variety reports CinemaNX will produced Heartless from writer-director Philip Ridley. Funding will come from the Isle of Man and concerns, according to the IMDb, a young man makes a deal with the devil to become handsome, but then discovers there’s a price for his good looks: he has to become a killer.

Ridley previously helmed the 1990 thriller The Reflecting Skin.

Heartless will star Jim Sturgess, Clemence Poesy, Noel Clarke and Timothy Spall. Richard Raymond and Pippa Cross will produce with Omega Entertainment.

Jim Sturgess, who is hot after the box office success of Las Vegas card-caper movie 21 and the cult movie Across The Universe will, star in the film Heartless, which Renaissance man Philip Ridley will direct on locations in East London and the Isle of Man, from June 1.

The French-born actress Clémence Poésy will play an Eastern European who meets Sturgess’s character.

It also stars Noel Clarke, who made Kidulthood and the forthcoming Adulthood movie.

Richard Raymond, who is producing the film with Pippa Cross, said it will be a “gleaming and seductive look at the East End”, which will turn the culture of hoodies on its head.

Jim was interviewed by Aint It Cool News and the article was just published and states Jim has signed on for a new project entitled Heartless.

Quint: Do you know what you are doing for summer projects?

Jim Sturgess: Yeah, I’m shooting a film called Heartless in London, which is a bizarre… very hard film to describe, but it’s all set about in London about a boy’s madness in a sort of time of violence. That’s the only way I can really describe it.

Quint: That’s cool… and he’s heartless.

Jim Sturgess: And he’s heartless, yeah.

Quint: He has no heart.

Jim Sturgess: He has no heart. (laughs)
